Get involved with Men in Sheds and Christmas Lunch in Bourton

by Joanna Hammond

If you’re looking for somewhere to meet new friends, learn skills, or just have a drink and a chat, then local charity Cotswold Friends have regular events in Bourton that you might be interested in.

Cotswold Friends would like more “shedders” to join its ‘Men in Sheds’ project in Bourton, which is open to everyone (not just men). It meets on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9.30am – 12.30pm at The Royal British Legion and costs £1. It’s a great place to practice your DIY or technical skills in a friendly environment or just have a cuppa.

You can get involved in one of their projects or work on one of your own. You don’t need to be a woodworker or an engineer and there is lots of help available, with volunteers on hand. To find out more email [email protected] or telephone 01608 698557.

IMG 6817 crop If lunch is more appealing (or maybe you’d like to do both!) then Cotswold Friends’ Bourton Lunch Club meets on the second Thursday of every month at Bourton Vale Cricket Club. Enjoy a good hot meal and the opportunity to meet new friends or catch up with old ones in a friendly and relaxed environment.

A special Christmas Lunch, sponsored by North Cotswold Rotary Club, will be held on Thursday 8th December, with a delicious Christmas meal and music. To book a place, call Kerry on 01608 692811 or email [email protected], and if you need transport to get there, the charity’s Community Transport Service can help – telephone 01608 651115.

More volunteer drivers are still needed in the Bourton area to help people that are vulnerable or isolated get to a medical appointment, go to the shops or post office, or visit friends and family. If you think this could be you, call 01608 697007 or email [email protected].
