Beautiful Remembrance Day Tribute

An idea sparked back in February of last year, resulted in a beautiful Remembrance Day tribute being erected in the foyer of the Moreton Area Centre building. Created by the Moreton Craft & Chat Group the display was developed using over 350 hand-knitted poppies and leaves, representing over 150 hours of work. The project was driven forward by Angie Elliott, Marion Devereux and Wendy Richens. Marion said, “It’s been good, I’ve really enjoyed it and it’s an achievement.” Wendy commented, “It was a joy to do actually. I’m a very horsey person so it was lovely to do the purple ones for the animals. It’s been a labour of love and we’ve all thoroughly enjoyed doing our bit.” Angie said, “My daughter and I researched to find the flag for the middle. Once two or three people got really into doing the poppies that was it, it just snowballed from there. I am pleased with it – very pleased.”
Sheryl Murray, Volunteer Manager at Cotswold Friends, said “We are so proud of our Craft & Chat ladies for creating such a lovely Remembrance Day tribute. It really does look stunning.” Staff at the centre were so pleased with the creation that it has remained in place, so please do visit if you would like to take a look.
