Volunteers Coffee Mornings At Cotswold Friends

We’re inviting you to our Volunteers Coffee Mornings at Cotswold Friends

We have over 200 fantastic volunteers on our books now!

Some of them are volunteer drivers who take our elderly residents to the shops, their hospital appointments and to see family and friends, others help with carer respite and our lunch clubs. Many are befrienders to the hundreds of isolated and lonely older people in our community.

Without them, we couldn’t offer the services that have proven so successful in helping improve health and well being among the elderly in the Cotswolds.

To get to know them all a bit better Cotswold Friends will be hosting coffee morning on the first Tuesday of each month - starting on 6th October at 10:30am - at their offices in Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire. Here, they will be able to meet the other volunteers in the organisation and cross refer vulnerable clients to project leaders, catch up on news and introduce prospective volunteers.

Our volunteers are extremely valuable to us. They provide the backbone of all of our projects we do and without them our services would not exist. Jane van Velsen, Development Manager

Cotswold Friends are a local charity providing friendship, support and transport to older and vulnerable people in the north Cotswold community. They aim to combat loneliness and isolation with their voluntary services, which improve health and well being and support independent living.

Established in 1978 as a community transport service, it has since expanded into Carer Respite and Befriending and developed a Community Activities Programme, including lunch clubs and social, activity and support groups. There are 8 part-time members of staff and over 200 volunteers, supporting more than 1,000 older and vulnerable people in the north Cotswold community.

Overall management is the responsibility of the Cotswold Friends Board, which has 5 members, all of whom are trustees. The full Board meets 10 times a year, with additional meetings being held by sub-committees who have specific responsibilities, such as finance and fundraising, service development, and brand and marketing.
